About this opportunity

A unique and impactful hospitality and transport investment opportunity releasing the full potential of Cape Verde as a preferred tourist destination. This necklace of islands off the West African coast is on the ascendancy, with the most recent development being a new scheduled service from the UK by Jet2. It is growing in popularity with tourists from Europe, the mid-East and Africa. This project, a new luxury flagged 350-room resort is located on Fogo, one of the larger of 10 islands off the coast of Senegal in the south Atlantic. The resort will be supported with the acquisition of new RO-RO ferries and a freighter, which will renew the island's ageing fleet with vessels mostly over 30 years old and subject to regular breakdowns. Cape Verde is an independent republic, politically and financially stable with a steadily growing GDP. Latest available figures: 2018/+3.71%; 2019/+7.64%; 2020(Covid)/-19.3%; 2021/+6.81%; 2022/+17.71%. In many ways it is similar to the hugely popular tourist destinations of the Canary Islands 1,000 miles to the north and Madeira, 300 miles further north. The large island of Fogo at the south of the archipelago falls far short of access for both locals and tourists, but has long been ripe for development. This project, developed by a leading local businessman, will build a luxury hotel on the island supported by its own solar farm and waste-to-energy plant. Whilst local services are able to supply power, waste management and de-sal water supply, the project principal believes that his hotel will have far less environmental impact if it is served by its own facilities. The acquisition of ferries and a freighter to serve the growing needs of the islands is integral to the project.
